There are two kinds of collection-cataloging sessions. The first is adding one item carefully — a new acquisition, a slab back from grading, a vehicle title transfer. You want every field correct, every photo in the gallery, every detail double-checked. The form should be patient with you.
The second is catching up. You have a binder of fifty PSA-graded cards that have been sitting in a drawer because the thought of logging them one at a time was exhausting. Or you bought out a friend's coin collection and have ninety raw Walking Liberty halves to enter. Or your safe day is finally here and you need every firearm, accessory, and box of ammo on the books before the audit. You don't want patience — you want speed.
Bulk Add is the second flow. It launched this month. Here's how it works.
The two-pane modal
Open any collection's inventory page and click Bulk Add. A wide modal appears, split in two.
The left pane holds your template: the fields that are the same across every item in this session. Location ("Main Safe"), sub-location ("Drawer 3"), acquired date, condition, currency, notes. You fill these in once.
The right pane holds the delta: the fields that change item-to-item. For trading cards, the cert number and the type-specific details. For firearms, the serial number and the per-item details. For books, the ISBN. The fields you'd normally retype fifty times.
Hit ⌘/Ctrl+Enter (or click Save & Add Another) and the delta clears, focus returns to the primary identity field, and you're ready for the next item. The template stays put. The item you just saved drops into the ADDED list at the bottom of the modal with a 10-second undo if your fingers got ahead of your eyes.
Continuous Scan
A toggle in the modal header turns on Continuous Scan. With it on, the camera scanner reopens automatically after every save. Flip to the next slab, tilt it toward the camera, beep, the cert number drops in, the PSA lookup auto-fires, fields populate, hit Save. Don't touch the keyboard between cards. A binder of fifty moves about as fast as you can pull cards out of the sleeves.
The same mode works for books (ISBN scan + Open Library auto-fill), vehicles (VIN scan + NHTSA decode), and coins (PCGS / NGC cert scan, with verify deep-link).
Sticky lookups and "↑ Same as last"
After each save, the next item's lookup fields (manufacturer, brand, sport, grading service, caliber) pre-fill from the just-saved item. If everything in this binder is 1986 Topps Baseball, you set Year/Sport/Brand on item one and they ride along on items two through fifty. Each is editable per-item if a stray Bowman shows up in the middle.
For non-lookup fields that aren't worth auto-sticking (a free-text note, a per-item price), a tiny "↑ Same as last" chip appears next to the label when the previous item had a value and the current field is empty. One click copies the value over. The chip vanishes once you type something.
Target count and remaining counter
If you know you have fifty cards, click the Target input next to the ADDED header and type 50. The counter now reads "Added 12 / 50" and turns a quiet green when you reach 50 — no confetti, no auto-close, just a confirmation. If you didn't set a target, the counter shows your remaining quota on your current plan ("38 remaining on your plan") so the wall doesn't surprise you mid-batch.
Saved templates per collection type
Built your perfect Main Safe template — location, sub-location, default condition, currency, the notes field pre-seeded with "Locked at the range key" — and you'll be using the same pattern next month? Open the Saved (N) dropdown in the template pane and click Save as new…. Name it ("Main Safe"). Next time you open Bulk Add for that collection type, the template is one click away.
Each (collection type) can hold up to 5 templates. Rename and delete inline. The dropdown sorts by recency so the one you used last week sits at the top.
Templates are scoped per collection type, not per individual collection — meaning a "Range Bag" template you build for one firearms collection applies to every firearms collection you own. The trade-off: sub-location dropdowns blank out when the template crosses collections (sub-locations are per-collection). It's a small gap and templates cover the common case.
Per-item photos
Each delta has its own photo picker. Take photos of each item as you add it — the photos upload after the save with no extra clicks. First photo on each item becomes the primary. Stop, drop, log.
The bigger picture
Bulk Add is one of two patterns we've shipped for catching up on backlog. The other is PSA CSV import — if you already have a PSA "MY INVENTORY" CSV exported from psacard.com, the import wizard takes the whole file at once and pre-maps every column. For other collections that don't have a vendor CSV, Bulk Add with Continuous Scan is the fastest path.
If you have a stack of slabs or a safe full of items waiting to be entered: take the binder out, open a chair, hit Bulk Add, turn on Continuous Scan, and clear the backlog this weekend.
