Cards expire and payments occasionally fail — it happens, and it's fixable. Here's exactly what Vaultry does and how to get back to full access.
What happens when a payment fails
- Your subscription is marked past due and your account switches to read-only: you can still view, export, and back up everything, but not add or edit items.
- Stripe automatically retries the charge over the following days.
- Your data is never deleted for a failed payment. Read-only is a pause, not a loss.
Fix it
- Go to Settings → Plans & Pricing (or the billing / payment section).
- Update your card — replace an expired card, or add a new one.
- Once a charge succeeds, full access is restored right away.
If a retry succeeds on its own after you fix the card, you don't need to do anything else.
If it stays unresolved
If the payment can't be collected, the subscription eventually cancels and the account stays read-only with your data preserved — you can re-subscribe anytime to pick up where you left off. Permanent deletion only happens when you request it. See Plans & what happens when you cancel.
