Every collection type comes with the fields most collectors need, but your collection might track something specific — a grading sub-score, a vault box number, a provenance reference. Custom fields let you add exactly those.
Note: Custom fields are available on the Pro plan and above.
Add a custom field
- Open the collection and go to its settings / fields.
- Choose Add custom field.
- Give it a name and pick a type (text, number, date, and so on).
- Save. The new field now appears on every item in that collection.
Custom fields are first-class
A custom field isn't a second-class note. Once you add one it behaves like any built-in field — you can filter by it, sort by it, show it as a column in the inventory table, and it's included when you export or back up. That means a "Box #" or "Appraisal date" you invent is just as useful for finding and reporting as caliber or grade.
Tips
- Use a number type for anything you'll want to sort or total (a sub-grade, a weight).
- Use a date type for appraisal dates, service dates, or warranty expiry so they sort correctly.
- Keep names short and consistent across collections if you plan to compare them.
