Add photos to an item

Updated · 2 min read

Photos turn an inventory into real documentation — the piece itself, its serial number, the receipt, the certificate. You can attach them to any item.

Add photos

  1. Open an item and choose Add Photos.
  2. Pick images from your device, or use your camera on a phone.
  3. They upload and attach to the item. On phones you can take and add a photo in one step.

Vaultry automatically optimizes images as you add them, so most photos upload quickly without you doing anything.

Limits

  • Up to 50 photos per item — plenty for multiple angles, documents, and provenance.

  • Maximum file size: 100 MB per image.

  • Storage per plan:

    Plan Photo storage
    Starter 3 GB
    Pro 15 GB
    Collector 50 GB
    Unlimited 150 GB

Vaultry checks your remaining storage before each upload, so you'll get a clear message rather than a silent failure if you're near your cap.

Why does a large photo occasionally take longer?

Most photos are optimized down to a small size and upload directly and quickly. A very large image that doesn't compress well (a huge uncompressed PNG, for example) takes a route that streams it through Vaultry's servers for security reasons. It still works — it just takes a moment longer. This is rare and nothing you need to do anything about.

See all your photos at once

The Gallery shows every photo across a collection in a grid, masonry, or slideshow view, with filters by the fields that matter for that type (caliber, mint mark, grade, and more). It's a fast way to browse or spot a gap in your documentation.
